Arsene Wenger believes that Arsenal can win the Premier League title before his contract terminates in 2017, Express reports.
The Gunners boss has been heavily criticized for Arsenal’s lack of progress over the past decade, with 2004 the last time his side were league champions.
Wenger extended his contract back in May this year after the Gunners’ won the FA Cup, however supporters expect their side to at least be challenging for the league title.
And the Frenchman has vowed he would do it before the end of his contract.
He said: “Of course it will happen before my contract runs out.
“We have not started this season very well but we have never had the full squad together since the start of the season.
“It has been a typical post World Cup start. But I believe that we we have what is needed to do it.
“We have to fight like mad now to come back as much as possible to show that we can compete in every single game.
“We have fought many times for the title. People always remember who won it but the fight has been very tight for long periods in each of the last eight or nine years.
“We have a big competition in England, we have to accept that. The level of the Premier League always goes up, and this season Chelsea have started very well.
“They will be difficult to catch – but everybody will fight to come back at them. You cannot say, after only 13 games, that the title race is over. You cannot say that a six point lead is not catchable.”
Arsenal face third-place Southampton at the Emirates on Wednesday in a must-win game for the Gunners as they attempt to climb up the table from seventh.
