Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that star player Alexis Sanchez will be fit to face Liverpool in gameweek three, Express reports.
Sanchez has been given an extended break following his exploits for Chile in the Copa America, in which the 26-year-old helped his country to their first ever international trophy.
The former Udinese star only returned to full training with the rest of the squad on Thursday and will not feature in the Gunners’ season-opening clash against West Ham United, but Wenger has revealed that he expects Sanchez to be ready for first-team action in ten days, in time to face Liverpool.
Wenger said: “He came back in good shape and should be available to play in 10 days.
“He played a World Cup, played a whole season, the Copa America and cannot start the season.”
‘Alexis’ was allowed to leave from Barcelona in a £32million deal last summer after the Catalans brought in Luis Suarez from the Reds.
The explosive winger didn’t take long to settle into life at the Emirates and had a terrific season, making 52 appearances in all competitions and scoring 25 goals.
