Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed that his side desperately missed the quality of star man Mesut Ozil following the 0-0 draw with Stoke City, SkySports reports.
Despite the result, the Gunners remain top of the table following the 1-1 draw between second place Leicester City and rock bottom Aston Villa.
Wenger was unable to call upon the services of Ozil for the fixture, given that the midfielder was suffering from a minor foot injury.
He was also unwilling to risk another star attacker in Alexis Sanchez, as the Chile international was not fully fit following a hamstring problem picked up back in November.
“There is no team in the world that would not miss Mesut Ozil,” he said.
“We are used to having him there giving the final ball but even with him, it would have been a very difficult game. Next week, we have some players back and some others are a few weeks away. I hope Ozil and Sanchez are back next week.”
Both sides were denied three points thanks to a number of brilliant saves from goalkeepers Petr Cech and Jack Butland.
The draw added to Wenger’s bad form against the Potters, as they only managed to win one out of their previous eight matches at the Britannia Stadium.
Arsenal have another tough game coming up as they take on Chelsea next weekend, while Stoke travel to Leicester.
