Arsenal braced for audacious bid in January

Inter Milan are set to make an audacious move for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie when the transfer window opens in January, the Daily Mail understands.

The Italian giants have suffered a dreadful start to the Serie A season and are reportedly keen to bring the Gunners captain to the San Siro to solve their goalscoring problem which has seen them score just two goals at home.

Claudio Ranieri’s side are lying one place above the relegation zone and have been hit hard since the departure of Samuel Eto’o to Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer with his replacements Diego Forlan and Mauro Zarate failing to impress.

Van Persie has just 18 months to run on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium and with Dutchman yet to put pen-to-paper on a fresh contract to keep him at the club.

His blistering start to the season, which has seen him hit 12 goals in 15 games, has alerted the world top clubs and it seems that Inter are desperate to steal a march ahead of rivals AC Milan and Juventus whilst Bayern Munich are also hunting the forwards signature.

Ranieri has already met and discussed transfer targets with president Massimo Moratti although they’ll have to move swiftly if they are to bring the 28-year-old to Italy.
