Arsenal are closing in on the capture of Mateo Kovacic after submitting an improved offer, with Inter Milan believed to be open to his departure, according to reports from the Metro.
The 20-year-old was the subject of an earlier £14.6million bid from the Gunners, but the Serie A giants rejected their advances.
However, it seems that Inter may be open to discussing terms of a potential switch after Arsene Wenger pushed forward with a £17.2million offer.
Kovacic is also being monitored by Spanish giants Real Madrid, with the midfield playmaker already being compared to Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas.
Manchester United, as well as Everton, were also amongst the clubs previously linked with the Croatia international, and may still consider a move given his availability.
There was also speculation ahead of the January window that said Inter were open to selling the player for around the £10million region, but based on interest in his services, it seems his value has been increased.
