Arsenal are confident they will sign Juventus star Fernando Llorente by Monday next week, according to reports from the Express.
Llorente has been heavily linked with a move away from the Juventus Stadium recently, with sources even claiming that the striker is Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal’s ‘surprise summer signing’.
However, it looks as if the Gunners have won the race for the Spain international’s signature, with reports claiming that the two clubs have agreed on a £8.5million deal.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been looking for a striker to give lone front man Olivier Giroud some friendly competition, with Real Madrid star Karim Benzema and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang mooted to be targets.
Llorente joined Juventus from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2013, playing an integral role in helping the Italian side win the Serie A title in his first season with 16 league goals.
But last season the 30-year-old played behind Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata in the pecking order, which saw him only start 25 league matches.
