Arsenal have confirmed that they have signed Lille striker Gervinho, subject to a regulatory process that needs to be completed. The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to the Emirates all summer long, and it appears that a deal has finally been all but concluded.
“Arsenal Football Club announces that Ivory Coast international forward Gervinho will shortly join the Gunners, subject to a regulatory process,” a statement on the club’s official website stated.
The frontman netted 15 goals for the French outfit in 2010/11, and was a key reason behind Rudy Garcia’s side winning Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France last term. He has also represented his country 27 times, scoring six goals.
Arsene Wenger is keen to add quality to his squad, and is believed to hope that the signing will showcase the north London club’s intention to spend money in the transfer market in search of silverware to Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
