Arsenal are planning to make a swoop for Newcastle United wonderkid Rolando Aarons, who is currently embroiled in contract negotiations with the Magpies, Metro reports.
Aarons has struggled to come to an agreement over an extended contract, which has therefore seen him linked with an exit.
And despite interest from Liverpool, it is the Gunners who are favourites to land the 19-year-old attacker if he fails to extend his stay at St. James’ Park.
The youngster has impressed during Newcastle’s pre-season preparations, scoring two goals in a 4-3 defeat to MLS outfit Portland Timbers last week.
Aarons made his Premier League debut in August last year and was expected to develop over the course of the campaign, but an early hamstring injury forced him out for most of the season.
The Toon Army have strengthened significantly over the summer, completing the transfers of Anderlecht’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven, with Chancel Mbemba also expected to sign shortly.
