Arsenal are set to continue scouting Monchengladbach star Granit Xhaka as they consider a move to strengthen their midfield, Metro reports.
The 23-year-old has now emerged as a potential candidate to help provide some friendly competition for Francis Coquelin in the middle of the park.
Manager Arsene Wenger has been linked with a host of central midfielders ever since the summer, missing out on both William Carvalho and Victor Wanyama, while also seeing Morgan Schneiderlin join Manchester United.
Xhaka looks to have alerted the Gunners given his form for the Bundesliga outfits after already making 89 appearances for the club since joining from Basel back in 2012.
He is said to have a release-clause set at £21million, but it can only be triggered in 2017, meaning he may need to offer a higher amount if he wants to sign the player in the near future.
The Swiss international has featured in 11 out of 12 possible Bundesliga matches for his side this term, scoring three goals so far (whoscored.com).
