Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will find out in the next fortnight whether he needs to go under the knife again, according to The Mirror.
The England international has had prolonged injury problems throughout his career to date, with the latest setback a leg fracture picked up in pre-season.
Wilshere was widely expected to be back available by now, but has not made the required progress to make a return to Premier League action.
The latest report suggests that if the 23-year-old’s situation has not improved over the next fortnight, the North London club will make the decision to operate on the star.
This would set the homegrown star’s recovery back further and potentially see Wilshere on the treatment table for a further two months.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has settled on a central midfield pairing of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla since the turn of the year, with every chance that Wilshere will have to make do with fleeting appearances even when he is fit to return.
