Arsenal look to have been dealt a massive blow in their chase for the services of Lucas Silva after he is said to have agreed a deal to join Real Madrid, Daily Mail reports.
The 21-year-old’s ability to play as an anchorman has attracted interest from Arsene Wenger, but he may be now be forced to look elsewhere.
Silva will sign a six-and-a-half year deal to complete his move to the Bernabeu with Madrid preparing to secure the transfer and unveil the player by next week.
Despite being linked with the Gunners in recent weeks, the Brazilian midfielder admitted that he was looking forward to moving to Spain, leaving the European Champions in pole position for his signature.
Wenger will still be in the market for a defensive midfielder throughout the January window with Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko, and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, just some of the names on his list.
