Liverpool looks to have beaten Arsenal to the signing of Joe Gomez, who is set for a club medical in order to complete his move from Charlton, Express reports.
The 18-year-old was said to be close on finalizing the transfer earlier and is now speculated to complete a move to Anfield for an estimated fee of £3.5million by the end of the week.
His addition will be manager Brendan Rodgers’ fourth signing of the summer, having previously completed deals for Manchester City’s James Milner, Burnley’s Danny Ings, and most recently Bolton’s Adam Bogdan.
Gomez is now set to meet the Reds’ club officials tomorrow in order to undergo the required medical test ahead of his potential switch.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was also very keen on the addition of the England Under-19 centre-back, but looks to have lost out to their Premier League rivals over the transfer.
He featured 24 times in all competitions for his team last season and is also a target for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
