Arsenal received another injury blow after Mikel Arteta limped off during the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund Wednesday night, Mirror reports.
Arsene Wenger’s men qualified for the Champions League knock-out stages for the 15th consecutive season with a victory at the Emirates, but key midfielder Arteta faces six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury.
Yaya Sanogo, who scored after just two minutes for the Gunners, also sustained a hamstring problem, adding to Wenger’s ever-growing injury list with Jack Wilshere hurting his ankle over the weekend.
Wenger said: “Mikel Arteta doesn’t look good – it’s a calf. I think he will be out for a while.
“The injuries are difficult to take on the chin. We go into many games and we need as many as possible available. The injury situation is a problem because we have many games and we lost two players tonight.
“Arteta again has a calf problem and that looks quite serious and we lost Sanogo as well on a hamstring problem.”
On the bright side Alexis Sanchez continued his impressive run of form, notching the second goal with a brilliant strike to make it 13 goals in just 20 games this season.
