Arsenal look to end their chase for Benfica forward Goncalo Guedes after the club placed a huge £65million price tag on his head with the sole purpose of warding off any interested parties, Talksport reports.
The highly rated 17-year-old is being monitored by Arsene Wenger and was tipped to make a stunning move to the Premier League, but the move is now under jeopardy after Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira revealed his intention to negotiate a new contract.
He also recently made his first team debut during the squad’s match against S.C. Covilha in the Portuguese Cup where they came out 3-2 winners.
Apart from the Gunners, Guedes is also being watched a number of European elites with both AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund the latest sides to show their interest in the young starlet.
However, should the new contract be signed, included with the release clause, all moves look to be off as the chances of anyone paying such a huge amount will seem highly unlikely.
