Arsenal fans will be delighted with the sight of Jack Wilshere back in the club’s colours, with the England international midfielder making a return from injury for the Gunners’ under-21 side.
The homegrown hero has had persistent injury woes throughout the course of his career and has not featured for the North London team at all this season.
Wilshere was initially expected to return to action by Christmas but has suffered a number of setbacks that have kept him on the treatment table.
However, as reported by Sky Sports, the playmaker made a return to competitive action by playing 65 minutes in Arsenal under-21’s 3-1 win over their equivalents from Newcastle.
He has not featured for Arsene Wenger’s first team since last season’s FA Cup final but looks to be in line to play a role in the club’s push for the title this term.
With Jordan Henderson picking up an injury that will rule him out of Euro 2016, the Arsenal midfielder could well be a consideration to replace him in Roy Hodgson’s squad.
