Arsenal hit with £30 million fee to sway Wenger off the scent

Arsenal will have to stump up £30 million if they are to sign Belgian star Eden Hazard, according to talkSPORT.

Lille are determined to get the best possible price for the midfielder who has been a long-term target for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman is considering a bid after Cesc Fabregas left for Barcelona whilst Samir Nasri is close to joining Manchester City.

Wenger is likely to pick up around £60 million for the pair once Nasri completes his switch to the Etihad Stadium and would have no problem affording the 20-year-old.

The French cub have already sold Gervinho to the Gunners this summer and club president Michel Seydoux is keen to retain Hazard’s services.

“I am not sure he wants to leave anyway. He knows his status here and at a large club there is much more uncertainty.” He said.

Despite having a substantial war chest at his disposal it’s unlikely that the notoriously prudent Wenger will spend £30 million on just one player.

It’s likely that he will try and persuade the Ligue 1 side to reduce their demands before making a move for Hazard who is the cousin of Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.
