Arsenal has been hit with an injury blow after it was confirmed that Nicklas Bendtner needs to undergo an operation on his troubled hernia.
The Danish striker limped off in the North London derby, but the injury was played down with the initial prognosis being that Bendtner had a groin strain and will only be missing for a few weeks.
However further scans have revealed that Bendtner’s injury was worse than first feared and he is set to have an operation tomorrow, which means that he is unlikely to return until the New Year at the earliest.
Bendtner said: “I will have an operation. I don’t know how long I will be out.”
Nicklas Bendtner has scored three goals in 13 games for Arsenal this season.
