Arsenal are said to be in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund star Sven Bender over a potential switch in the upcoming window, according to reports from the Metro.
The 26-year-old is one of the many midfield targets manager Arsene Wenger has been considering over the past few months.
Both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini have struggled with injuries over the course of the term, giving the opportunity for Francis Coquelin to prove himself at the Emirates.
Even with Coquelin becoming the first choice selection for the role in the middle of the park, the French boss is still keen on strengthening that area of his squad.
Bender is currently being paid about £41,000-a-week, but is keen on a switch elsewhere in hopes of seeing an increase in his wages.
The Germany international has been a regular feature for his side, featuring 32 times in all competitions this season.
Apart from the Dortmund ace, the Gunners were also said to be in contact with his teammate, Ilkay Gundogan, over a move for the player earlier this year.
