Arsenal have joined London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Basel star Breel Embolo, according to reports from the Metro.
The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Swiss club in recent weeks after a fine start to the season, with Serie A giants Juventus also keen on the striker.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to provide some much needed cover for Harry Kane up front and sees Embolo as an adequate back-up for the England international.
However, according to Italian source Calciomercato, they are set to face some competition from the Gunners, whose injury problems are forcing manager Arsene Wenger to find reinforcements in the January transfer window.
Olivier Giroud is the only true striker on Arsenal’s first-team roster, while Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck are still nursing respective injuries.
Embolo, valued at £12million, has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring eight goals.
