Arsenal are leading the race to sign Accrington Stanley ace Josh Windass, according to reports from the Mirror.
Windass, who is the son of former Premier League ace Dean Windass, has been heavily linked with a move away from Accrington in recent weeks, with the likes of Championship clubs Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham, and Hull City all keen on the midfielder.
However, it seems as if the Gunners’ top flight status make them favourites to sign the 21-year-old, with manager Arsene Wenger watching him in the club’s FA Cup game against York last Saturday.
And Windass impressed with Wenger in the stands, scoring a penalty to help his side to a 3-2 victory.
With the youngster’s contract set to terminate at the end of the season, Arsenal are hoping to add Windass to their roster to boost their number of home-grown stars.
Windass has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals.
