Arsenal favourite and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Chelsea striker Diego Costa will leave the club this summer.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League during the current campaign, and reportedly came close to completing a big-money move to Asia during the January transfer window.

However, Blues boss Antonio Conte wanted him to stay in west London to help the side win the Premier League title, and they did exactly that on Friday night following an outstanding run of form since a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in October.

The 1-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns ensured that they couldn’t be caught by Tottenham Hotspur and that they got their hands on the trophy again having last lifted it in 2015.

But despite the success and the fact that he has been an influential figure having scored an impressive 20 top flight goals this term, Merson believes the 28-year-old will depart the club at the end of the season.

The 49-year-old told Sky Sports via the Daily Star: “From what we read in the paper, he [Costa] will be gone.

"He's probably packed already if I'm being honest.

"For £670,000-a-week, or whatever it is, it's hard to turn down!"

Chelsea finish their Premier League campaign with two home matches against Watford and already-relegated Sunderland, before Costa could have the chance to win his final piece of silverware with the club – if the exit rumours are true – when the Blues face Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
