Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has questioned Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers summer signing of Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
The former England international, who was part of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ side, told BBC Sport: “At the moment Liverpool aren’t defending like a unit.
“Is Dejan Lovren really the leader they thought they had bought?
“Martin Skrtel has come into the side and has been indifferent while Mamadou Sakho left the ground the other week in disgust at being dropped.”
Lovren moved from Southampton to Liverpool in a £20million deal and has played in all Liverpool’s Premier League and Champions League games so far – nine starts in total.
The 25-year-old was at fault on Saturday, as he conceded the penalty against West Bromwich Albion which saw Saido Berahino dust himself off and convert from the spot to bring the game back to 1-1.
The Merseyside outfit currently sit in tenth place having conceded 10 goals.
