Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri will be sidelined for a month following knee surgery.
Nasri played the full 90 minutes of Sunday's season opening 1-1 draw with Liverpool but picked up a minor knee ligament injury at Anfield.
The timing of the injury comes as a real blow to manager Arsene Wenger as Nasri had been in impressive form during pre-season.
"Samir Nasri will today (Wednesday) undergo minor surgery on his knee following a meniscal injury sustained during the match against Liverpool," read a club statement.
"Nasri, who has been in impressive form, will be out of action for a month."
The 23-year-old France international made 34 appearances for the Gunners last season, scoring five goals.
