Arsenal star Mathieu Flamini is set to leave the club at the end of the season, according to reports from the Mirror.
Flamini seems certain to leave the Gunners next summer, despite the Frenchman holding the record for not having lost a single of his 52 league games at the Emirates stadium.
However, the club’s ‘lucky ‘charm’ will see his contract expire in June along with fellow midfielders Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky.
Both Arteta and Rosicky have struggled with injuries for a majority of the season, and with the duo unlikely to gain full fitness soon, manager Arsene Wenger has put central midfielders on top of his January transfer wishlist.
Their number one target seems to be Southampton powerhouse Victor Wanyama, but Arsenal are currently reluctant to pay the Saints’ £20million asking price for the Kenyan international.
Flamini is therefore likely to retain his role in midfield until the recovery of Francis Coquelin, and when the trio departs, Wenger is expected to spend big in the summer.
