Arsenal are planning to make a £20million move for Bayer Leverkusen ace Christoph Kramer as an alternative to Sami Khedira, Daily Star reports.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira all summer, but failed to agree personal terms with the Germany international.
However it seems that Arsenal are still keen to sign the 27-year-old, with the World Cup winner still finding it difficult to break into the Madrid first team.
Although Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists Khedira wants to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, his contract will terminate at the end of the season which could force the European Champions to sell him rather than lose him for free in six months.
Chelsea and AC Milan are also interested in Khedira, making Arsenal consider other options such as Christoph Kramer.
Kramer, currently on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach, has impressed this season with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger already pondering a £20million bid.
The 23-year-old has previously revealed his desire to moving abroad, with the Premier League a possible destination.
Kramer said: “That [moving abroad] has always interested me. I would not be afraid.
“I want to find out what my limit is and I always strive for the very best.”
