Arsenal are believed to have reconsidered a move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 25-year-old anchorman was heavily linked with a summer move to the Emirates, while various media outlets have already claimed that a deal has been struck between the two Premier League sides.
However, due to the strong displays by Gunners current star Francis Coquelin in the role, manager Arsene Wenger is now remaining quiet on a move for the Saints ace.
He has been keeping an eye on the France international ever since the previous summer, and was even prepared to bring him to the club in the January window.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Schneiderlin and may take the opportunity to lure him to Old Trafford with the guarantee of Champions League football.
He earlier revealed that he wanted to leave the St Mary’s Stadium for a club that can offer him European football, something United are looking likely to achieve as they sit third in the league.
“I no longer want to be in front of my TV every Tuesday and Wednesday,” he said.
“Since then, I have had talks with the directors and I want to play at a higher level. It is important, at 25-years-old, to finally play in the Champions League.”
