Arsenal are preparing to make a January move for Manchester United target Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester City, according to Ghana Soccernet, as reported by the Express.
The 22-year-old emerged as a potential transfer target during the summer, but despite being linked with the mentioned pair, he eventually decided to sign a new deal.
Schlupp penned a new contract back in June and is now tied down for another four years, with manager Claudio Ranieri ready to block the sale of the versatile winger.
“He stays with us – nobody goes in January. Not Riyad Mahrez, not Jeffrey Schlupp, nobody. We want to achieve our goals as soon as possible. We need all our best players,” he said.
United were also linked with a move for the Ghana international following the long-term injury to Luke Shaw who broke his leg in two places earlier in the campaign.
He started all 12 Premier League matches under Ranieri so far this term, scoring one goal (whoscored.com), and is expected to be the subject of a £10million offer from the Gunners.
The Foxes have begun the season on sensational form, registering seven wins, four draws, and only one lost, as they sit third in the league, a point behind joint-leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
