Arsenal are ready to make an initial move to sign Jackson Martinez from Porto with a potential £29.5m offer, according to reports from the Metro.
The 28-year-old is a top striking target for Arsene Wenger, who earlier praised his ability in front of goal and is very keen on acquiring his services.
Not usually known for spending big on transfers apart from the additions of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Wenger could yet add another high-profile signing if he can complete a move for one of Europe’s most lethal strikers.
Martinez is currently on a very impressive goal tally this season, notching five Champions League goals in five starts and adding another 16 goals in 21 league games.
Apart from the Gunners, the Porto man is also an attacking target for Premier League pair Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Colombian was also linked with a £27.5million move to White Hart Lane, as he believes there is less competition in the Spurs frontline when compared to that of Arsenal and the Reds.
