If Arsene Wenger wants to bring Marco Verratti from the Parc des Princes to the Emirates in the summer transfer window, it will cost £40million, that is according to the Daily Star.
Verratti, who signed a new five-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions towards the back end of last year, has been a relative mainstay for Laurent Blanc’s side so far this season with the Italian international making 29 appearances across all competitions for the French club.
With Mikel Arteta signing a new one-year contract extension, as well as Francis Coquelin penning a fresh four-and-a-half-year deal, competition is still rife in the middle of the park for Arsene Wenger’s side. However, Verratti, who has 10 caps for the Azzurri, has been deployed at times as a defensive-midfielder during the current campaign for PSG, which may well be behind Wenger’s thinking despite the emergence of Coquelin.
Arsenal welcome Leicester City to the Emirates on Tuesday as they look to bounceback quickly from the North London derby defeat.
