Arsenal have been in search for a new centre-back throughout the summer and could finally make a move to sign Saint Etienne captain Loic Perrin to fill the defensive void, Metro reports.
The 29-year-old is believed to be worth around £6million, a fee Arsene Wenger is surely willing to spend and will also be boosted by the fact that he can play in central defence and also as a midfield anchorman.
In addition to his search for a defensive player, Wenger was also looking for a midfielder capable of playing the roles of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, so the potential move for Perrin looks to fit the bill.
The Frenchman is one of the many names the Gunners boss is keeping an eye on during his search for a player to fill the role, with Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar and West Ham United’s Winston Reid also in contention for an Emirates move.
With a potential bid of around £6million, it will still leave a lot of extra funds for the club to continue their quest to strengthen the squad in the upcoming January window.
