Arsenal ready to move on PFA Player of the Year

Arsenal are keen on signing Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez this summer.

That’s according to Gazzetta World, who believe the Premier League winner is a top target for the Gunners, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Whilst his teammate Jamie Vardy turned down Arsenal and instead signed a new deal with the Foxes, Mahrez is still yet to extend his contract, and is wanted by Arsene Wenger.

The PFA Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season, Mahrez scored 18 league goals, as well as assisting a further 11 for his teammates. It was his third season with the club, after originally joining the Foxes whilst they were in the Championship.

Arsenal’s only marquee signing has been Granit Xhaka this summer, with many fans growing frustrated at the lack of transfer activity at the Emirates. They kick off their season on Sunday 14th, at home to Liverpool.

They are yet to make an official bid for Mahrez, but are expected to turn up their interest in the Algerian over the next few days.
