Arsenal are looking to make a January bid for FC Porto wonderkid Ruben Neves to replace injured man Francis Coquelin in midfield, according to reports from the Metro.
Neves has been heavily linked with a move away from the Portuguese club in recent weeks, but it was Liverpool that were reportedly keen on the 18-year-old.
However, Coquelin is set to miss three months of first-team football amid the Gunners’ growing list of injured players, making Wenger consider making a swoop for Neves in the January transfer window.
And SportWitness has claimed that Arsenal sent scouts to Porto twice the past week to monitor Neves’ performances against Dynamo Kiev and then C.D. Tondela.
The Portugal international became the youngest player to ever captain a side in the Champions League after being handed the armband against Maccabi Tel Aviv on October 20.
Neves has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, providing two assists.
