Arsenal are looking to step up their chase to sign Chelsea target Ruben Neves from Porto after continued scouting missions, Daily Star reports.
The 18-year-old emerged as a target for the Blues earlier in the campaign while the Gunners are now said to have joined the race given their recent injury crisis.
Neves was being watched by scouts sent by manager Arsene Wenger during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Pacos de Ferreira, earning the man of the match reward in the process.
It is believed that the youngster is being targeted as a replacement to injured central midfield pair Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, both of whom are out with long term knocks.
His recent match marked the fourth time Gunners scouts were present to monitor his displays as a January bid is likely to be made in the near future.
However, the midfielder recently revealed that he is very happy at his present club and is only focused on helping them reach their goals.
“I am under contract until June 2019 and, at the moment, I am only thinking about the club achieving its goals,” he said.
