Arsenal set to bid for Manchester United ace

Wayne Rooney

Arsenal are eyeing an audacious bid to bring want-away Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to North London, according to the Daily Mail.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has denied the rumours but you wouldn’t expect anything else from the Frenchman who wants to keep the deal under wraps.

Rooney wants out of Old Trafford after a frustrating season for the champions that has seen him regularly left out of the starting XI and rarely completing 90 minutes.

The England striker will sit down with incoming United boss David Moyes to discuss his future but it is thought that the 27-year-old will continue to demand a move away from Manchester.

Wenger has around £70million to spend this summer and Rooney could take up half of that but the long serving Gunners manager has a history of refusing the chance to bring the big name players to his club.

Rooney may well be dropped from the United squad once again this Sunday in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final game as a manager.
