Arsenal are to set secure the signings of Barcelona’s Chilean World Cup star Alexis Sanchez and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Sunday Express.
Arsene Wenger bringing Sanchez to the Emirates ends any hope Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had in securing the 25-year-old in any deal involving the Reds’ bad boy Luis Suarez.
The Gunners boss also plans to deliver a transfer blow to Arsenal’s fiercest rivals Tottenham Hotspur as he looks to finalise a deal for Southampton’s French international Morgan Schneiderlin.
Former Saints gaffer, and new Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino had hoped to team up with his former player but it appears Wenger has landed his man before the Argentine.
Schneiderlin, currently away on World Cup duty with France, has been recently quoted as saying: “Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation.
“On a personal level, the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors.
“I’ve been there for a long time now. We’ll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.
“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”
