Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed that he is not interested in a return to Real Madrid despite praising club manager Zinedine Zidane, Spox.com reports.
The 27-year-old joined from the La Liga giants for £42.5million back in the summer of 2013 and has recently been linked with a return following a number of impressive displays.
It was believed that he was ready to leave the Emirates if current manager Arsene Wenger continues his role at the club next season.
However, the midfielder has come out to deny the speculation that he was considering a return to Spain, but did praise Zidane for his footballing abilities as well as his personality.
“Zidane was an amazing player. He did not just play football, but lived for the game,” he said.
“I got to know him after his active career as someone who is always willing to lend a hand.
“But that does not say anything about my future. I am only thinking about Arsenal. There is no truth in the speculation linking me with a return to Spain.”
The Gunners have continued to struggle during the latter stages of their campaign and despite being heavy title contenders earlier, they now trail behind leaders Leicester City by 10 points.
Ozil has featured 38 times in all competitions for the Gunners this term, scoring seven goals and providing 19 assists.
