Arsenal star Laurent Koscielny believes that the club have the ability to beat Barcelona in their Champions League round-of-sixteen clash, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
The Gunners have a tough task of facing Barca their next fixture, given that the Catalans are the current European and La Liga champions and are once again on spectacular form this season.
Luis Enrique’s men are already eight points ahead of rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish top flight and finished their Champions League group stages with 14 points, eight in front of second place Roma.
However, Arsenal centre-back Koscielny is adamant that the Premier League club can cause an upset against the competition favourites, insisting that they can beat Barcelona if they work together as a team in the first leg at the Emirates on Tuesday.
“They are the best offensive armada in Europe and the world,” he told French outlet Telefoot.
“We have to take pleasure in the match and give 100 per cent to get a good result at home.
“Yes, it’s possible to beat them.
“We have a great keeper in Petr Cech and when it comes to defence it’s not just the back four.
“The whole team must do well in between the lines.
“We have done it in the league – play deep, defend together and hit them on the break.
“Then we are capable of getting a good result.”
The Gunners have only beaten Barca once in their seven previous meetings, losing four and drawing another two.
