Arsenal star Per Mertesacker has revealed that he is feeling confident ahead of their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, according to reports from the Express.
The 31-year-old saw his team beat the current Bundesliga champions 2-0 two weeks ago as they kept their qualification chances alive.
Mertesacker now believes his side are full of confidence after picking up their fifth straight victory in the Premier League as they prepare for their trip to Germany in midweek.
“We showed that we can beat them, that’s a good sign but it will be a different game at their place. They are an outstanding in their league,” he said.
“Both teams have a chance to go through to the knock-out stages, we improved our position with our last game against Bayern but we need to get something out of this game. We need to perform and defend even better.”
The Gunners are currently third in their group with three points, three away from Bayern and Olympiacos in first and second respectively.
Manager Arsene Wenger will be looking to capitalize from their win against Bayern given that they lost their first two games in Europe.
The Gunners are also flying high in the domestic league as they sit second on the table, level on points with leaders Manchester City who are top due to their goal difference.
