Arsenal star Kieran Gibbs has missed out on the chance to represent England after going on holiday, The Sun reports.
The 26-year-old left-back was set to be given a late call-up by manager Roy Hodgson after Southampton star Ryan Bertrand picked up an injury.
However, Gibbs was unavailable as he decided to take a short trip to the United States given that he was not included in the initial squad.
The England international has struggled to hold down a regular role for the Gunners this season, a factor that could now see him miss out on the chance to get selected for the Euros this summer.
He is currently in competition with Everton’s Leighton Baines, Tottenham Hotspurs’ Danny Rose, and Bertrand for the two available slots.
The defender only started three Premier League matches and another two Champions League fixtures this term, featuring another 15 times from the bench, so far managing to score one goal in the process.
