Arsenal star Olivier Giroud has come out to praise Jeff Reine-Adelaide who joined from Lyon earlier this summer, according to reports from the Express.
The 17-year-old was brought in from the Lyon academy and was selected by manager Arsene Wenger to take part in the pre-season Emirates Cup.
Giroud revealed that his fellow Frenchman has the potential to become a star at the Emirates if he can continue to develop.
“I knew that he was in the under-17 European Championship winning side last summer,” he said.
“He’s got a really good mentality and if he’s listening to the advice around him from his teammates, he could improve very quickly. His potential is fantastic.”
After impressing during his first few games for the Gunners, he was tipped to leave on loan for more first team experience, but his boss later ruled out the possibility of an exit.
“He will definitely be here,” he said.
“He is 17 years old and looks very promising, but he needs to work with us now for a year with the first team, to play with the U21s and develop.
“There is a fantastic potential there and he will stay with us.”
Reine-Adelaide is regarded as a very versatile attacker who can play as a centre-forward, along either flanks, and even as a number 10.
However, Wenger is still in the market to sign a proven striker and has made Real Madrid star Karim Benzema his top target heading into the new campaign.
