Arsenal star Nacho Monreal has reiterated his desire to stay with the club amid reports linking him back to Spain, according to the London Evening Standard.
Monreal was heavily linked with a return to the Spanish La Liga with Athletic Bilbao during the summer, with the defender close to signing a two-year deal to complete the move.
However, manager Arsene Wenger decided to keep the 29-year-old following his performances at the second half of the season, and now Monreal has usurped Kieran Gibbs as the Frenchman’s first choice left back for the Gunners.
This has seen Monreal deny any earlier reports speculating that he was close to a return before the start of the campaign, with the former Malaga ace extremely happy at his current situation in London.
“Everything feels right,” he said.
“I can say that I feel at home on and off the pitch.
“If you don’t feel good off the pitch and in life in general, obviously you can’t give 100 per cent.
“However, at the moment, I love England, I love London and I love my team-mates so everything is positive.”
The Gunners are struggling with a high number of injuries in the squad, with the club failing to win a single league game last month before a hectic December period.
