Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is looking at the funny side of his dreadful record of giving away penalties, Daily Star reports.
Since his arrival at the Emirates back in 2010, the Frenchman has conceded a staggering seven penalties, which is more than any other player during that time.
Koscielny was the man to bring down Chelsea’s Eden Hazard last weekend, which led to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s men.
However the centre-back has played down his record before France play Portugal in a friendly match this Saturday.
“I don’t know if Guinness have a record for that,” he said.
“I have played about 200 games and conceded eight penalties for Arsenal and the French team. If only I could give them away when we are leading 4-0.
“Unfortunately, we do not choose. It’s something I have to resolve earlier in the play.
“When Eden comes very quickly, he either scores or I clear the ball. It was toss of a coin. I do not pass judgment on what you think of my games or my mistakes. The most important thing is to be good for Arsenal.”
After the international break, Arsenal will face Hull at the Emirates in their attempts to climb up the Premier League table.
