Arsenal star Jack Wilshere is being tipped to miss the start of the new Premier League campaign after picking up an ankle injury, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 23-year-old suffered the blow during a training session on Saturday in the build up to his team’s 1-0 Community Shield victory over current English champions Chelsea.
However, manager Arsene Wenger earlier revealed that Wilshere will only be out for a few days, but it is likely that he will not risk the midfielder for the season opener against West Ham United.
The England international will be hoping to return to full fitness as fast as he can due to the ever growing level of competition in the middle of the park.
He is currently sharing the same role as Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla, but can also be pushed further up where he will have to compete with Mesut Ozil or Aaron Ramsey.
Wilshere has been very limited to game time due to injury last term, starting only nine league matches while featuring from the bench a further five times.
