Arsenal striker swap rubbished by agent

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud hasn’t been having talks with Napoli, according to his agent.

Tutto Mercato are reporting that there has been no communication between the Serie A side and Giroud, with rumours linking him to a cash-plus-player swap that would see Gonzalo Higuain come to the Emirates. The rumoured bid would be for £50million plus the French forward.

But agent Michael Manuello has denied any link with the Italian club: “Everything I’ve read about Giroud is not true,”

“I don’t know where this story has come from, we never talked to Napoli and there’s no other person above me who could do that. We need to clarify that.”

Higuain has been heavily linked with a move out of Napoli, after scoring 36 league goals last season, breaking the record for most goals scored in Serie A by a single player. The Argentine scored a hat-trick on the final day of the season to take the record.

In comparison, Giroud scored 16 league goals last year, his joint-highest tally in a Premier League season. But Manuello was quick to deny any swap deal with the two clubs is not on the cards.
