Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Karim Benzema after he revealed his intentions to remain at Real Madrid, according to reports from Skysports.
The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates during the summer window, but his switch to the Premier League eventually failed to materialize.
However, when asked about his potential move to join the Gunners, the France international admitted that he is at the best club in the world while laughing off speculation of his exit.
“Never. Like every summer, I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours,” he said.
“In my opinion, I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football. Why I would leave?
“I’m a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy; it’s that simple.”
He has been on sensational form for Real this term, featuring eight times in all competitions so far, scoring seven goals.
Manager Arsene Wenger has been linked with the striker over the past few seasons as he is yet to sign a player capable of competing for places with Olivier Giroud up top.
Given their failure to sign Benzema in the summer, Wenger has been boosted by the form of Theo Walcott, who recently reverted from a winger into a more central forward role.
