Arsenal are believed to be on the trail of Roma youngster Umar Sadiq, with Italian paper La Repubblica claiming the Gunners have already made a bid in excess of £10 million for the striker.
The Gunners have been accused of lacking a potent striker that can fire them to the title in recent years, with a section of the Emirates Stadium faithful imploring Arsene Wenger to bolster his options in the centre forward position.
Sadiq has emerged at the Italian capital city club this season and scored two goals in six Serie A outings for the title-chasing outfit.
The 19-year-old was born in Nigeria but is one of a host of young homegrown players coming through the Roma ranks that are expected to take over the mantle from the likes of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.
Sadiq has all the raw attributes to be a lone striker of note, with his burly frame and physicality straight away of notice in Serie A.
A threat in the air and with an eye for goal, the teenage starlet looks like a player with a big future – which might well be in North London if the latest reports are to be believed.
