Arsenal are preparing a £20million bid for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, Express reports.
The French midfielder is currently in Brazil for the World Cup after a very impressive campaign for Southampton last season, attracting interest from Arsenal as well as Napoli and Tottenham.
Newly appointed Saints manager Ronald Koeman has already lost three key players with Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana going to Liverpool, while wonderkid Luke Shaw has departed to Manchester United.
Koeman will therefore be keen not to lose another star player until he finds suitable replacements.
Former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, now at Tottenham, is also looking to bring over the 24-year-old midfielder while Napoli have also submitted a £12million bid.
Rafael Benitez wants to build on a successful first season in charge of Napoli, in which his side won the Coppa Italia and finished in a Champions League position.
But the Saints have rejected the initial £12million offer, keeping firm in their £20million valuation that Arsenal believe they can match.
Schneiderlin made 36 appearances for Southampton last season, scoring two goals.
