Arsenal target Sami Khedira has confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to reports from the Mirror.
Khedira has struggled for form and fitness ever since winning the World Cup with Germany last summer, being rarely used by Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Since his move from Vfb Stuttgart back in 2010, the 27-year-old has played 161 games for the La Liga giants and was once a regular in the Los Blancos set-up.
But ever since a thigh injury at the beginning of the campaign, Khedira has failed to overtake the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in the midfield pecking order, starting only three games this season.
This has resulted in the defensive midfielder hoping for a new challenge elsewhere, in which he confirmed he wants to leave the Spanish capital.
“It’s not a decision against Real Madrid,” declared Khedira. “I want to find new challenges for my career and continue to grow as a player.”
“I don’t have an agreement with any club nor any preferences as to who I would like to join,” added.
“I will do everything I can to continue helping the team during the forthcoming weeks.”
