Arsenal are targeting a move for Lazio star Cristian Ledesma to fill the void left by injured pair Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta, Express reports.
The Gunners have been hit with several injury setbacks this season, which have seen the likes of Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, and Mathieu Debuchy also sidelined with long-term problems.
Adding to manager Arsene Wenger’s woes are the injuries to Wilshere and Arteta, with Wilshere hurting his ankle against Manchester United while Arteta picked up a knock in their 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Wilshere will now be sidelined for at least three weeks after going under the knife, which is set to force the Gunners to purchase reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.
And the Arsenal hierarchy are reportedly keen on Lazio’s Ledesma, who plays a similar role to the injured duo for his club.
The Italy international will have his contract with Lazio expire next summer, making him a considerably cheap option for Wenger to bring to the English Premier League.
