The 22-year-old is reportedly keen to leave Wolfsburg, who failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season. The club had a disappointing season, finishing 8th, behind Draxler’s former side Schalke.
Drawler only left Schalke last summer, and still has 4 years remaining on his current deal. But he has made it public that he is keen to leave Wolfsburg:
“I made it clear to coach Dieter Hecking after we were knocked out of Euro 2016 that I would like to leave Wolfsburg.” he said.
“The coach has known about this for three weeks. When I joined, I was assured – verbally – that I could leave the club whenever the opportunity arose.”
But for Arsenal to sign the German, they would have to break their transfer record, set at £42.5million for Mesut Özil from Real Madrid.
Wolfsburg want £50million for the 22-year-old, who netted 5 Bundesliga goals last year, as well as scoring once during Euro 2016, twice including in the penalty shoot-out victory over Italy.
